ARCHITECT’S STATEMENT //
Its note everyday you get to design a space for yourself. It gets fairly tricky! RADS began from a single architect working away on the kitchen table. After moving from a large practice into a sole practitioner the experience of designing people was one of meaningful accomplishment. For years before moving into our studio many meetings were held in café’s & bars. I found this experience enriched the design process substantially.
Rather than designing an office space with social elements the original planning of the space was for the studio to be programmed as a social space. We looked at back and front of house elements to create a open collaborative workspace environment. We want people to feel at home when in our studio. We want people to be proud to address sensitive design solutions and feel free to let out their craziest thoughts so we can find a way to translate them into built form.
