Canon Australia has announced the Canon Light Awards LIVE, an exciting and immersive, real-time creative photography competition. Comprising two-day events in four states, state semi-finals and a national Grand Final, the new Canon Light Awards LIVE competition kicks off in Adelaide on 6 and 7 May 2017 at the National Wine Centre.

Experience two high-octane days of photographic competition and creation in a major city near you!

Canon Light Awards LIVE reinvents the format of previous years’ competitions with a two-day live experience to push photographers’ creativity, skill and technique to the limit. Open to all enthusiasts regardless of the type or brand of camera they use, each round of the live competition will present a unique opportunity for photographers to join like-minded peers, learn from some of Australia’s best image-makers, and turn their ideas into photographs within a tight timeframe.

In Adelaide, they will choose from three exciting Masterclasses:

Commercial photographer Toby Burrows //
Discover how you can propel your journey to become a professional photographer, and strike a balance between personal creativity and commercial photography.

Wedding photographer Ryan Schembri //

Learn how to apply the principles of chiaroscuro – the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting – and photography that creates truly dramatic portraits.

Landscape photographers Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken //

Get the inside scoop on their path to success in landscape photography, and pick up skills to take awe-inspiring shots.

Following the Masterclass component of the events, participants will be assigned a secret brief designed to push their ability to create an image that is truly remarkable – with just 24 hours to conceptualise and produce their submissions. Photographers submit their images on the following day for judging in their Masterclass Category, and will hear first-hand the feedback from the judges on the best images of the category. The winner of each Masterclass will take home the award-winning Canon image PROGRAF PRO-1000 A2 printer with a complete set of inks and photo paper.
