CLIENT’S STATEMENT//

On first impression the general feedback from visitors is wow! The transformation has seen an eye sore turned into an aspirational venue where old and new have been melded together by having the industrial look perfectly combined with the feel on the interior.

Customers tell us there is a great feeling of space but not overwhelmingly so, relaxed and casual with seated tastings a nice option rather than at the bar.

Events & functions spring into visitors minds given what we are doing in the space internally and externally. They love the front of the building and the grounds and being able to see into the distillery is a great bonus especially when the distillery team are working in the space.

Overall the amazing charm, heritage and character has ensured we have a legacy to build upon for the future.

ARCHITECT’S STATEMENT //

The Twenty Third Street Distillery project is an exploration of history, storytelling and re-invention. The design thinking is closely linked to a philosophy of doing ‘just enough’, ensuring the existing richness and hidden character of the site is revealed and celebrated. Our client had a strong vision to re-invent a brand and our approach to adapting the former Renmano Winery was complementary.

Careful attention to context and built form re-discovers and celebrates the historic 1914 heart of the site. The original limestone distillery buildings that were once hidden are now the centrepiece of the design.

The completion of the project has seen a renewed enthusiasm in the Riverland community. The cultural, economic and tourism opportunities are already being realised and Renmark is back on the map.
